Hello Michael, V7 models can be opened directly in CONNECT Edition without any 'middle-man' conversion needed - simply select "database files" from the "files of type" dropdown in the file open dialog, then select your MDB file. See the following related article from our Wiki: Opening old WaterCAD or WaterGEMS WCD model files and preserving presentation settings One thing that will be lost with that method is the "presentation settings", including color coding and annotations. To preserve these, you can export the presentation settings XML file from WaterCAD V7. I went ahead and did this for you and attached the XML file here. Place this in the same folder as the MDB before opening the MDB per the above information. communities.bentley.com/.../2135wmb_5F00_20061214.wcd.xml

Thanks Jessie! Yes, I was hoping to preserve the "presentation settings". That's why I was hoping Bentley would update it to Version 7. thanks again.

Forum Post: RE: i have designed a project in sewer gems velocity errors

Hello Giri, When you say "velocity errors", I assume you are referring to the user notifications that say "Conduit does not meet minimum velocity constraint." These messages are warnings (note the yellow color circle next to them) that do not prevent the model from computing. They are in reference to the automated design feature's design constraints. In the Design Alternative, you will see that the minimum velocity constraint is set to 0.61 m/s. The pipes in question have a velocity greater than this, so the user notifications in questions appear. This model is set to Analysis mode (not Design), so it will not try to automatically change pipe sizes and slopes to meet the constraints. For Analysis mode, those notifications will still display for informational purposes. Furthermore, even when running automated design, the minimum velocity constraints are at the bottom of the constraint priority order and are unlikely to be satisfied without violating another constraint (again though, those notifications will still display for informational purposes.) See: Unable to meet minimum or maximum velocity constraint Order of automated design priorities for StormCAD (GVF-Rational) and SewerCAD (GVF-Convex) For minimum velocity problems, you may also want to look into Tractive Stress .

Sir, First I have designed the network its showed more no of pipes not meeting minimum velocity constraints, cover constraints and slope . After changed to analysis some pipe diameter and slopes are changed but still out of 171 pipes nearly 71 pipes not meet the minimum velocity constraints

When you are working with small sewers with only a few customers upstream, you will almost always have many pipes that don't continually meet the minimum velocity constraint. When you get into these low flow situations, you need to remember that for these pipes, flow is not steady but comes in pulses when a customer drains a washing machine or dishwasher, flushes a toilet, runs a shower,... During these times, those pulses usually provide sufficient tractive force to move any solids. Those minimum velocity constraints really don't apply in these situations. All you can do is meet the minimum slope requirements as given in you local regulations or in publications like the ASCE Gravity Sewer manual. If you meet minimum slope, you are probably safe. If the area where you are working is almost completely flat, you may have trouble meeting even minimum slope requirements. In that case, you may need to consider pressure sewers or multiple pump stations. These are more expensive and difficult to maintain, so you'd like to use gravity sewers.

Hello Satish, Can you please mention which software you are using? Is it WaterGEMS / WaterCAD or SewerGEMS / CivilStorm / SewerCAD ? The best option for both water and storm-sewer modeling systems would be to use Microstation or AutoCAD integrated platform of software. e.g. SewerGEMS for Microstation or SewerGEMS for AutoCAD and use the inherent tools of CAD application to divide the pipe each at 500 m. Or if you are using SewerGEMS, then you can use the tool called element property inferencing, which will divide a pipe at required intervals between two selected nodes. Here is information is about the tool. Using Element Property Inferencing to populate missing elevations or elements

thanks for your kind reply ,the curve i want to draw shows only the pump curve ,and duty point ,also at the bottom shown the legend for head operating point and efficiency  operating point ,at time zero which means steady state, initial conditions

Hello Serine, In Hammer calculation options, (Analysis > Options > Steady State /EPS solver), you have time analysis type set as steady state , if you change it to EPS, you should be able to see the pump curve for multiple steps of EPS run.

I will setup the controls for the rest of the pumps --- Yes, your Wetwell is overflowing. We didn't see a User Notification about it (probably because it is between timesteps) and I will file a Defect for that to be fixed in a later release. Pumps PMP-LS 1AA and PMP-LS 1AA_2 have "Ignore On and Off Elevations?" = True so the pumps keep running. All other pumps have this set to False and we expected to find Pump "Controls" set up to turn the pumps on and off based on the Elevation but we didn't find any. Here is a Wiki article - Creating Controls - Conditions, Actions and Control Sets (V8i) to help you with this. You can set your timesteps to .5 - it will take a little longer to Compute but you will see more detail in the results. Here is a Wiki article to help you set your pump controls - it is written for the Select Series 6 version but still applies to your version - Creating Controls - Conditions, Actions, and Control Sets Please let me know if you need further assistance. Thank-you, Larry

Hi Sushma, I just remade the model and it seems to be working. I'm not sure if the first model was corrupt, but the second one hasn't caused any trouble. Thank you, Janice

I have a model completed for an entire subdivision and now I want to be able to run small sections to determine possible phasing. How do I do this without deleting everything I don't need at first and adding it back in as required? Is there a way to use selection sets?

Janice Shon, Thank-you for letting us know that a new model fixed the issue. I didn't want to jump into the middle of your correspondence with Sushma. Please let us know if you encounter this issue again and we'll try to determine the cause. Thanks again, Larry

Hello, Is there a reason that you need to do this? If you have a source file like a shapefile that includes nodes along the pipe length, you can import the nodes as junctions using ModelBuilder to update the model, then use the Batch Pipe Split tool to split the pipes and connect the pipes to the new junctions. Hello, Jesse's suggestion of using a drafting tool in a product like MicroStation or AutoCAD may be the best solution. You can create point elements this way, export the point data into a DXF file, and use ModelBuilder to import the points. Once the points are there, you can then use the Batch Pipe Split tool mentioned above to split the pipes and attach the nodes to the pipes. Regards, Scott
