Non-identical pumps actually work well in situations where the station must deliver a wide range of flow; for example. running a high flow pump during the day and a lower flow pump during the night. When different pumps are used, it is important that the head they produce is very similar if they are to be run at the same time. The flows can be different. Usually changes to pump performance are gradual over many years. Exceptions to that are when an impeller is damaged by cavitation or a bearing fails. It is important to analyze every combination of pumps running together to identify those that are inefficient. The combination pump curve feature of WaterGEMS pump station elements is particularly suited for this type of analysis.

This means that the pipe will be flowing full. It this is supposed to be a gravity pipe (not pumped), then water will puddle in the low point during low or no flow conditions and if the water is carrying solids, they will tend to build up in this area. Negatively sloping pie are undesirable in general..

Thank you sir. Is there any way to adjust this error manually.

Forum Post: RE: Hydraulic Grade Line (StormCAD)
You need to adjust the manhole invert elevations so that the slope is correct. To get a quick suggested design profile, look at the Element Property Inferencing tool where yo can provide the upstream and downstream elevation for a set of pipes and it will fill in the elevations in between.

Forum Post: RE: LONGEST PATH-SELECTION
Mulongo Wafula, You are correct that Network Navigator is a very useful tool with a number of built in queries that let a modeler see what is in a system and how everything is connected. It can calculate the shortest distance between a start node and a stop node as described in this Wiki article .. To my knowledge, we have never had a request to find the longest distance between two nodes or junctions Please tell us what you wish to gain by finding the longest distance between two nodes or junctions and we will offer suggestions that we believe will help you or we can file an enhancement request with Development. Thank-you, Larry

Can you explain why you need to know the longest distance between two nodes?

Forum Post: RE: Pump
The above mentioned are really helpful. But I think when you have an old station the first step is to clarify the pump curve of each pump. So the queston is if there is a specific methodology to get knowledge of all pump curves of the station? For example how many points (pairs) do I need to form the curve?
↧
Forum Post: RE: Pump
You are right. It is best to measure the actual curves, especially for old pumps. For the pump head curve, it is necessary to measure the pump flow and pump head (discharge pressure minus suction pressure converted to head units). Throttle the discharge valve to get multiple points. The number of points isn't as important as the range of points. Get a range from the maximum flow possible all the way to zero flow. To measure the efficiency curve, you need the data from the pump curve plus the power input. If you don't measure power you may be able to measure amperage and knowing voltage and power factor, calculate power input. Then, power output/power input is efficiency.

Forum Post: RE: DXF not exist
Hello Mustafa, The Lessons folder in the quick start lessons refers to the Lessons subfolder within your WaterGEMS installation folder. By default, this is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\WaterGEMS\Lessons In that folder, you should find the Lesson1.DXF file that the lesson refers to. I have also attached a copy. If your organization has a SELECT subscription, on-demand training is available at no extra cost on our Learn Server. You can find a link, plus other learning resources here: Learning Resource Guide for new users of Bentley WaterGEMS and WaterCAD

I have two pipelines connected from one tank to the other and my main aim is to easily select/trace both of them downstream so that I can create for them two different selection sets. The pipelines run parallel to each other and are close together, overlapping at many instances its hard to trace them manually

Forum Post: RE: LONGEST PATH-SELECTION
So you really don't need Longest path. What you want to do is View > Navigator > Network Trace > Find shortest path, then pick the beginning and end of the pipeline.

Forum Post: RE: Changing scale of WaterCAD model
What do you man by "Change the scale"? If it's changing units, right click on any length in the property grid, pick "units and formatting" and make change. If the model was built wrong and you have a consistent error that can be fixed by multiplying, open the Pipe flex table, copy the "Length (Scaled)" column to something like Excel, multiply by the correction factor, copy the corrected value back to WaterCAD, set the "Has User Defined Length Column" to checked globally by right clicking the column head, pick Global Edit and check the box. If it's another issue, let us know.

Wiki Page: When compacting a database or importing a model the error "Object reference..." due to missing start or stop nodes occurs
Product(s): StormCAD, SewerGEMS, CivilStorm, SewerCAD Version(s): 08.11.XX.XX, 10.XX.XX.XX Area: Other Problem When attempting to use the Compact Database feature or import the model, the following error occurs: "object reference not set to an instance of an object". Problem ID#: 72805 Solution 1) This is a generic error, but in at least one case, it was due to conduits missing start or stop nodes. Open the conduit flextable and ensure that the Start Node and Stop Node fields are added. Scroll through the list and look for any that show up as blank. If you find any with missing start or stop nodes, right click the row header (on the left), choose "zoom to", then press the delete button to delete (or right click on the end of the pipe and reconnect as appropriate). And then Compact database, by going to Tools Compact database 2) In another case this error was seen when importing model with Explicit-SWMM solver. The model had duplicate labels for conduits and control structures. Explicit solver doesn't allow for duplicate labels, so make sure that there are no duplicate labels for any elements in model, using element flex tables. You can also use Navigator query-Duplicate labels to find duplicate labels. See Also ModelBuilder error: "Some current pipes in the model are missing endnodes, Use Network Navigator..." Wiki Page: Error when creating irregular channel cross section – Stations should be in ascending order.
Product(s): SewerGEMS, StormCAD, CivilStorm Version(s): 08.11.XX.XX, 10.XX.XX.XX Area: Layout and Data Input Problem Error when creating irregular channel cross section – Stations should be in ascending order. Solution This error is seen when creating irregular type section for a cross section, in cross section editor. It is seen particularly when you are defining two entries for elevation (relative) for a single station and cross section editor reads a single elevation for single station. If you want to enter two elevations for a single station enter first as 00+01 & second as 00+01.01, this way software will read the elevations correctly. See Also Error message when validating model: "Elevation (Relative) values within the Irregular shape definition must be non-negative." Modeling non-standard conduit or channel shapes
